Persuasive Essay #3

“Carpooling, recycling, and planting trees are all activities that are good for the environment. Write an essay convincing readers to actively participate in one of these activities.”

What will you do when the world comes to an end? Where will you go when there is no where to go? Yes, this is quite a scary thought. Did you know that you likely are doing things everyday that bring this day closer and closer? Fortunately, there is something that you can do to help the Earth.
A lot of people have to drive to work. Also, multiple people work at the same location. However, employees still drive to the same location in different cars. I believe that there is one logical way to alleviate the situation. If these people get into the same car and drive to work they would release less smog into the atmosphere, and, in essence, help save Earth. Also, they would save money on gas if there is just one car driving to and from work.
Another way to help the environment is to recycle. Recycling is quite simple, yet many people do not do it. I believe that it is just because they do not care enough to drop their bottles and cans in the blue bin, rather than the black one. However, they will care when the world collapses around them. All that you have to do is save your bottles, cans, and paper and put them in recycle bins. This way we do not waste our resources, and do not help speed up the demise of our planet.

One final way to help out the planet is to reserve electricity and water. Many people leave on lights and electronic devices when they leave a house. Just flipping the switch or pressing the button can help alleviate the problem with our environment. Another thing that people do is leave the water running while they brush their teeth. Although it does not seem like much of a waste, it does add up, and can be easily avoided by turning it off until you need it. Also, you could turn off the water when you are washing dishes until you need it.
Many people say that our planet is doomed. However, there are things that we can do to help bring a halt to the death of our planet. Carpooling is one way. Recycling is another. You can conserve electricity when possible. One final thing that people can do is conserve water. I personally believe that if we all work together, we can handle the situation well and stop the threat.

Essay Prompt #4

“What is your all-time favorite movie and why? Write an essay persuading readers to watch this film.”

Who does not love a feel-good, sports-related movie that they can relate to? Most people enjoy these movies. For me, this movie is The Sandlot. I can relate to it, and it can almost always brighten my mood.
I love baseball; I love to watch it, I love to have conversations and debates about it, and I definitely love to play it. Baseball is one thing that I have always been able to do that took my mind off of negative things in my life. I have been playing since I was seven years of age. Even when I was younger, my father put me on to baseball, and I loved it.
Another thing that makes me feel good is an interesting movie. I love comedies, but I also like action and suspenseful movies. However, my favorite type of movie is a sports movie. They usually have good storylines, and they also are often true stories, or based on true stories.
So, when you combine two of my favorite things that make me happy, it obviously appeals to me. The Sandlot is a movie about a boy that moves to a new town. The boy is smart, gets good grades, and does not play sports, nor does he talk about or watch them. His worried mother sends him out to make friends. He stumbles onto a baseball field, and he sees some other boys there playing. The boy, named Smalls, embarrasses himself when he attempts to throw back the baseball that rolled over by his foot. He revealed his ignorance to the sport, and the other boys laughed at him. He ran home in melancholy. Another day, he was asked to go play with them by one of the boys, names Bennie, who helped him catch and throw. Smalls did well that day, and was invited to participate every day. By this time, he was accepted by the other guys as well.
Smalls became better and better, and hung out with them more and more. They all went through a lot of things together. One day, Bennie knocked the cover off of the only baseball that they had. Smalls went home to get a ball to play with, and grabbed one from his stepfather’s trophy case that was signed by Babe Ruth, not knowing its worth. He ended up hitting it into a yard for his first homerun. Unfortunately, that yard was patrolled by the Beast, who, according to the boys, was the biggest meanest dog ever. The guys put their heads together to figure out a way to get it back, but they came up with nothing.
Bennie had a dream in which Babe Ruth told him to just hop over the fence and get it. The next day, he did so, and ended up being chased around the neighborhood by the Beast. He finally won the battle, but the dog became injured in the struggle, and, despite their fear, the boys helped him, and Smalls lead the way. The boys, the dog, and the dog’s master all ended up friends.
This is my favorite movie because it had a good storyline, good characters, and, of course, it had to do with baseball. Also, the place where they played, named The Sandlot, is like a dream come true for me; I always wanted to be able to walk to a field and play a pick-up game with my friends. Despite my main reason for loving this film, which is the baseball references, I would recommend this film to others. It has a good plot and is a great family film.

Prompt #7

Eating is a necessity. Everyone needs to do it to survive. However, people do want to enjoy their meals. Foods that satisfy your taste buds are highly favored. Also, a lot of people choose to eat foods that help their bodies as well. When you can find a combination of the two delicacies you have accomplished a great feat.

I do not know how eating has evolved into choosing the foods that you will enjoy the most, because of taste and health. However, this is the case. Yes, I am guilty of performing the same stunt. But, is this because we are programmed this way from birth? If you have the chance to make the very difficult decision between a large, fattening, bad tasting hamburger, or a large, delicious salad with your favorite toppings on it? Well, most people will pick the salad rather than the hamburger, unless they just do not care much for salads. But if you had the chance to choose between a red, delicious apple and a nice, juicy orange, which will you pick? In this case it is entirely up to preference. But, the next time you are trying to decide what you want for dinner, and you pick the chicken sandwich, ask yourself, "Why?"

Prompt #6

When you have a question about your favorite sports team, your old high school, or the health of you or a loved one, what do you do? you look it up on a search engine on the internet, and you almost always find the answer that you are looking for. How do you communicate with your friends when you have a serious question about the homework due the next day, and you cell phone is not operating as it should? You send them an email, an instant message, or you talk to them through a social network, such as facebook, for example. What do you do when you have a teacher that wants to check all work electronically? You set up an account on Blogspot.com, and publish all of your work up on there. What is the common factor in all of these scenarios? The answer to this question is the internet.
Yes, the internet is a business for the people that offer the service. They charge, and sometimes over charge, the innocent consumers. For them, the internet is a great money maker. Although consumers paying for internet service are losing money, the internet greatly benefits them as well. Internet has many different features, such as being able to communicate with people, being able to find answers to an infinite number of questions, and playing many different types of games. Internet has been in my life for as long as I can remember, and I cannot imagine my life without this necessity.

Prompt #5

Imagine that you have very strict parents. Your parents very seldom let you get out of the house for anything other than school. You decided to ask them if you could go to a local party with your friends, although you do not expect them to approve. To your disbelief, your parents allow you to attend the function. You are very shocked, but extremely excited. You walk to the store on your way home from school, and buy yourself some new clothes to wear to the event. Your friends are just as excited and shocked as you are that you get to go. However, while you are at school, someone tells you that the party was supposed to be visited by local gang members. These gang members are notorious for causing trouble at parties. The gang members also are known for shooting random people with the firearms. What do you do?
This is a case where you and your friends need to find something else to do. You all need to change yourplans. This is because, although you do not get to go out often, this one night of fun is not worth your life, nor is it worth the lives of your dear friends. One solution to this issue is to ask your parents if you can do something else, such as all of you go to your friend's house, or you all go to the mall. Hopefully, one of these solutions will help you if this situation occurs.

Prompt #4

When you are worn out, tired, and need a break, you usually say that you want one thing. That one thing is a vacation. Also, you usually want that vacation to be as long as possible. People all over the world go on vacation for one reason, and that reason is becasue they want to relax. Therefore, most people go on vacation in relaxing places, such as The Bahamas, Hawaii, Jamaica, Fiji, or another island of this type. Most vacation spots have either a beach or a pool. They also have a lot to do at these locations, such as casinoes, malls, or spas for women. People also often travel a long way to get to their place of rest.

However, my ideal vacatino spot is just a couple of hours away from my current location by car. There is much to do in this beautiful city, and I would love to spend a vacation here. The great place that i am referring to is San Diego. San Diego is definitely one of my ideal vacation spots. San Diego is a pretty good spot to do some fishing, which is something that I really like to do. You could even get on a fishing boat and ride down into Mexican waters for some premier fishinf. Also, you can visit Sea World in San Diego. I have  never been to Sea World, but I have always wanted to go. There is also the San Diego Zoo to go visit. Finally, the numerous restaurants make this a premier vacation spot.

Prompt #1

Living outdoors can be a very interesting thing, especially for people that are not used to it. It, as most things in life, has its pros and cons. Living in the city is very convenient, since everything that you need, such as schools, stores, and libraries, are in the same area. Things are not like this in the country. Things are sometimes miles away, and would take a while to get to. This would make it difficult to get everyday essentials. Also, if you have children, their school may not be very close to your home. This daily commute to their school can easily eat up gas, and, in essence, your money. However, in the country, you likely have a lot of land. Therefore, you can grow your own produce. Also, you can dig a lake and stock it with fish. With these changes, trips to the grocery store will be less frequent. Also, you can hunt different native animals, such as rabbits, bucks, and does.  Also, living in the country can help you to stay healthy. You can do some gardening, there is plenty of space to walk or run, and the hunting and fishing can help your health as well. Living in the country also can also be very relaxing because it is quiet and there is not much to distract you, like car accidents and sirens on the streets. So, even though some things are difficult to do in the country, I think that the positives outweigh the negatives.

If I Were a Painter

If I were a painter, and i were allowed to paint my room, I would paint the whole room white, and would add beautiful and intricate pictures of baseballs, baseball bats, and baseball gloves, skillfully placed in the perfect places.

The Bat Who Couldn't Fly

Little Johnny the fruit bat decided to fly to the peach tree for a snack. It was not a very long trip, so he went by himself. Unfortunately, he ran into the Peach Tree Bloodsuckers, who flew up on him. "Do you know where you are?!" they asked. Johnny replied, "Do you know who I am? I'm Lil' Johnny from Dark Cave bat!". "Oh, really? Well, tell me what they call you after this." The Bloodsuckers pinned Johnny against a tree and gnawed at his wings. Little Johnny fell down to the cold earth, and was henceforth known as "The Bat Who Cannot Fly".

My Journey on a Pirate Ship

One day, I awoke on a pirate ship. I had on a bandana and an eye patch. I asked a man swabbing the deck how I got there, and he explained to me that I was kidnapped to help to keep the ship clean. I immediately stormed toward the captain to show my anger, and he immediately pulled out a sword, and slashed toward my throat. Then, I woke up in my bed, got up, and washed the dishes.

Brave

One time I was brave would be when I walked to school for the first time. I somehow lost my way, and I did not have a cellular phone. However, despite my timidness, I was able to ask a teenager around me for directions to my school, and I continued on to learn about adverbs.

Doctor

If I were a doctor I would be a pediatrician. I would make little kids' "boo boo's" stop hurting, and parents would know exactly who they want to operate on their children.

20 Feet Tall

If I were 20 feet tall (and I am not far from it) things would ne very different. I would be the greatest basketball player of all time, I would need a huge bed, it would be hard to walk through doorways.

One Thing I Am Good At

I am good at baseball. I am a good hitter, fielder, and baserunner (for my speed)

Time I Won Something

One day i will not forget is the day I hit a walk-off single in my baseball game, playing with the 9 and 10 year old Ladera Allstar team. The coach did not like me, and therefore, did not play me. However, we were in extra innings and he needed me to pinch hit with runners on base. I hit a single and won the game for my team.

Persuasive Essay: Good Habits

Do you have problems getting things done? Do you feel that you
procrastinate too often? This is a very large issue, especially for
teenagers my age. However, there is a possible solution to this problem.

School is very important for our youth. However, a lot of our youth
does not realize this. Therefore, their parents and teahers are the
ones pushing them to get as good of an education as possible. With the
parents and teachers thinking this way, they are disappointed when you
do not do as well as they know you can do. For a lot if teenagers,
what their parents think about them is a big deal. Therefore, if they
are disappointed in them, this can cause minor or serious emotional
pain.

Most people do something that they want to do rather than what they
are supposed to do when they are procrastinating. You may be playing
video games
, listening to music, or talking on the phone when you are
supposed to be doing your homework. This could result in bad grades in
school.

My proposal is that you do what I do. When I have something
important to do but I want to do something else, I do what I need to
do, and I use what I want to do as a motive to make sure that what I
need to do gets done. For example, if I really want to play video
games, but I know that I need to wash the dishes, I would wash the
dishes, all the while thinking about the video games. I would
constantly remind myself, "All you need to do is finish, then you
could play yor video games." Saying this pushes me to get the dishes
done.

Having something or someone pushing you to do what is important for
you to do can be very beneficial. This can help people to get their
school work done. Getting school work done will help you to get better
grades. Better grades will help boost both your self-esteem and your
parents faith in your skills. This will help your emotional health to
either become better or stay on the sufficient level that it is at.
Hopefully, you will use this technique to better your health.

Doctor

If I were a doctor I would be a psyciatrist. I like helping people with their problems and I am pretty good at it. I would be happy to help people almost anyway I could, and i think this is very possible for me.

superpower

If I could have one superpower it would be super speed. I always wished I could run really fast. This would make me the best baseball player, basketball player, football player, and track runner of all time.

Afternoon With Extended Family

If I could spend an afternoon with one member of my extended family it would be my grandfather, My grandfather was a minor league baseball player. We would talk about his numerous experiences there.

Moon

Sure, visiting the moon might be fun. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. However, it does not interest me much. The moon seems like a boring place to me; there is no television, no beaches... there's not even any sign of life on the moon! So, while the fact that there is no gravity on the moon does interest me, i do not think that it is worth he long ride.

My Age Earning Money

people can earn money a number of ways at my age. Some people get an allowance from their parents for doing chores. Others may have very wealthy parents and don't need to earn money at all. For the less fortunate, there are ways to earn some currency. You could ask neighbors if they had a job for you to do for a small fee, such as mowing the lawn, cleaning their garage, or washing their car(s). You could also look for jobs at local restaurants or stores.

Season

My favorite season is Fall. Its not because of the gloomy weather, the howling wind, or the falling leaves. I love the Fall because playoff baseball is in the air. This is when the magic happens. This is when the groundball goes under Bill Buckner's glove. This is then Aaron Boone and Kurt Gibson hit the biggest homeruns of their lives. This is when Mariano Rivera gets the most inportant saves of his career. This is Fall. This is baseball.

Game Show

If I could be on any game show it would be "Deal or No Deal". I would work my way down to the final 3 cases, which would be 8, 16, and 17. I would eventually win the grand prize in case number 16.

Home

What I like best about my home is the memories it holds. The days I spent with my sisters, and my cousins. The times we used to make plays and perform them for our parents. When we usd to play Tekken 3 on our original playstations. Now everyone is grown... those days are long gone.

Football

If I worked at a football stadium I would be a tight end. I would catch passes and make game changing blocks. I would be RAW! (good)

Four years ago I was 12 years old. I am more mature and responsible than I was then. Now, I am able to go out more, I am better at baseball, and I am more confident talking to people.

Monkey

Personally, I think that monkeys would make awesome pets. I believe that their more-advanced brains (according to humans, if well-trained) would make them better. They would be able to listen and do what you say. I believe this makes them fantastic pets.

Youngest Person I Know

The youngest person I know is my nephew Alex. He is three years old. He is quiet, but talkative. He tries to communicate with us, but we do not always know what he is thinking. He is heavy and very active. He likes to jump off of things and play video games.
